My Highlight Reel!

My Career as a Filmmaker…

I have two guiding principles for my career. I know that outdoor adventure is my passion and storytelling is my purpose. That statement manifests itself in my work as a documentary filmmaker and photographer when I share uplifting stories about hope, joy and adventure.

To know me, it’s important to look into the past. Growing up on Orcas Island then attending school in Costa Rica then Wales, my academic career was always focused on international relations and my personal interests revolved around service. My goal was always to have a positive impact in my career and, during college, I thought that would take place working in the federal government in Washington DC where I spent time working formulating and implementing U.S. foreign policy.

However, I was called to more creative means and found a love for sharing stories through filmmaking and photography….

Aiming to serve Others Through Filmmaking

Now that my day-to-day life is spent working alongside some awesome clients in and around the outdoor industry, I want to continue to tell uplifting stories that hopefully can make a positive difference.

I feel a responsibility to use the skills I’ve gained in my filmmaking career to help others, whether that be through inspiring an audience through well crafted storytelling about a passionate individual in a far-off place or by sharing the beauty and importance of conserving the natural world.

Fostering My Curiosity

In addition to creating impact through my work, I hope to continue to foster my curiosity and use storytelling as a tool for inspiring others to live a healthier and happier life. I feel a sense of responsibility and desire to respect other people, cultures and nature so I hope to continue to learn and collaborate with others who have a shared passion for emphatically engaging with the world around them.

The Proudest Moments of My Career…

Some of the proudest moments of my career up to this point have been pairing my passion for outdoor adventure with meaningful storytelling about diversity, equity and inclusion. Going forward, I want to continue to pursue those stories that make me feel alive. Being a filmmaker isn’t just about where I point my camera but in how I can empathically connect with the various communities I work with.

Whether I was photographing among the indigenous communities of Peru in 2018 or filming rock climbers in Mexico in 2022, I aimed to pursue bold ideas and persist through the inevitable challenges that arise on international expeditions. The uplifting stories I’m hoping to share in my career deserve to be told well and it's about overcoming adversity with compassion that makes all the difference.

If you’ve read this far, thank you so much for your support on my filmmaking journey and I hope you enjoy seeing a little piece of what I’m most proud of in my career up to this point.
